Youtubeir@s meeting

The second edition of the Youtubeir@s project is underway, boosting the creation of Youtube content in Galician language by these awards to the best videos and channels, as well as through workshops and other training activities and to make visible our language in social networks . In this meeting we will talk with some of the finalists of the first edition, such as Eira Losada or Nuria Espasandín, and we will enjoy a teaser of what we will watch as a result of the new call.

Eira Losada is a 16-year-old Ourense student passionate about the audiovisual, music and books who studies Arts Baccalaureate and runs the YouTube channel “Nubes Baixo Ti”, with which she was a finalist of the Youtubeir@s contest in its first edition of 2017.

Native of Vimianzo, Nuria has three channels on Youtube and is a finalist of the I Youtubeir@s Contest. She defines herself as ‘dependent on words and feelings’, and as an admirer of whatever format that serves to express herself and feel – finding on the audiovisual a perfect way to do it. Since a little kid she was defined by close people as ‘a defender of the poor’, which proves that, without knowing it, Law was always her vocation, being the career that she is currently about to graduate in.

Xacobo de Toro Cacharrón is head of the department Biology and Geology department of IES Urban Lugrís in Malpica de Bergantiños. He is a PhD candidate at the UDC and a specialist in Science education. He was selected as the best high school teacher in 2017 by the Educa Foundation. He maintains a YouTube channel since 2009 where he uploads video lessons.

Youtubeir@s is an initiative organized by the Linguistic Normalization Services of the Councils of A Baña, Ames, Carballo, Ourense, Pontevedra, Ribadeo, Santiago de Compostela, Teo and O Grove, of the Universities of A Coruña, Santiago de Compostela and Vigo and the Deputación da Coruña.
